In 2021, lawmakers in Mexico passed an amendment to the General Tobacco Control Law, which implemented 100% smoke-free places across the country and banned tobacco advertisement, promotion and sponsorship (TAPS).
This case study examines how strategically timed media campaigns helped motivate the Mexican government to pass the legislation.
