Spotlight: Health Equity
COVID has exposed the weaknesses in public health systems around the world, leaving billions at risk from dying an early and preventable death from infectious diseases and more. All too often, it is systemic bias – race, income, gender – that determines who has the best opportunity for good health. From taking on the racist “war on drugs” that criminalizes health-based approaches to substance use, to strengthening data systems to understand the inequity behind COVID’s toll, to tackling air pollution which disproportionately impacts low-income people, Vital Strategies is supporting governments in bridging the gap between knowing the right thing to do and implementing it, leading to improved health protections for millions.
