Publications The Instrumental Role of Strategic Communication to Counter Industry Marketing Responses to Sugary Drink Taxes; Comment on “Understanding Marketing Responses to a Tax on Sugary Drinks: A Qualitative Interview Study in the United Kingdom, 2019” This commentary reflects on recent experiences of the sugary drinks industry's marketing responses to taxes instituted to reduce the consumption of sugary drinks. It presents evidence that strategic communication can play an instrumental role in protecting strong taxes from industry responses.
Publications Impacts of Air Pollution on Health and Cost of Illness in Jakarta, Indonesia This study aimed to quantify the health and economic impacts of air pollution—fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and ground-level Ozone (O3), which exceeded the local and global ambient air quality standards—in Jakarta Province, the capital of Indonesia.

This brief has been developed to increase awareness of the key findings of this research.

Our new study uses data from the Tobacco Enforcement and Reporting Movement (TERM) to uncover the “hidden” tobacco marketing on social media in India.
Publications Use of electronic cigarettes and hookah in Brazil: a new and emerging landscape By means of a countrywide cross-sectional telephone survey conducted in 2022, this study sought to estimate the prevalence of current commercial cigarette smoking, as well as those of e-cigarette and hookah experimentation and current use among adults over 18 years of age in Brazil.
Publications Urban pandemic response: Survey results describing the experiences from twenty-five cities during the COVID-19 pandemic This article summarizes the results of a survey of 25 cities around the world to learn which levels of government—with a particular focus on local and national government—were responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed regarding select COVID-19 pandemic response activities.
Publications Policy Brief: Reducing Childhood Lead Poisoning in Indonesia In this policy brief, produced in partnership with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, UNICEF Indonesia and Pure Earth, we outline the problem of lead poisoning in Indonesia and make recommendations for actions that Indonesia can take to reduce it.
