May 6, 2024 (New York) —On May 3, 2024, Michael R. Bloomberg, 108th mayor of New York City and founder of Bloomberg Philanthropies, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by U.S. President Joe Biden. The award is the nation’s highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made exemplary contributions to world peace, the prosperity, values or security of the U.S., or other significant societal, public or private endeavors.
